Church at home

Spending your Sunday mornings doing church at home is a new and maybe unusual experience. We want to provide you with some practical handles that will help your Sunday mornings be a worshipful and spiritually edifying experience.

Prep for Sunday Service

Pray for your church service

Sundays at home are definitely a different experience, but we have the same Holy Spirit empowering us. Pray that God will move and work through your Sunday morning service.

Get dressed

A tip to help be engaged with the service is to get ready and dressed for your day as if you were attending in-person. This will help bring some structure to your morning and help you feel awake and alert. We definitely don’t have a dress code though, so if PJs are your thing then go for it!

“I’m going to church”

Share with your family that you’ll be “going to church”. This will help set the precedent that the church isn’t a physical location, but a body of people joining together to worship.

Connect with friends online

A big part of Sundays is the chance to connect with others, and thankfully we have the internet and phones to help with that. Video chat with some friends to connect about how their Sunday morning went and how you can pray for each other, or text a church friend you haven’t seen in a while.

Church for kids

If you have young kids, set up a plan for how you’ll have them participate in the service, whether it’s watching Sunday School curriculum or watching the sermon with parents.

Use social media

Be sure to post and tag #RedeemerNWFamily. It’s a great way to see other people participating in the service so you can remember and pray for them.

Technology Tips

Use Zoom

If you wish to be part of the Sunday morning prayer meetings, you can prepare ahead by downloading Zoom on your computer, tablet, or mobile device at https://zoom.us/download.

Muting & unmuting

During Zoom calls, mute your microphone when you are not talking. You will still be able to hear everyone. “Unmute” your mic when you want to talk/pray. When you unmute your mic, everyone will be able to hear you.

Show your face

Zoom has the option to not do video, but still do the audio. We would love to see your face, if possible! :)

Choose your favorite device

You can do Sunday service on either a desktop computer, laptop, tablet, or phone.

The big screen

If you wish to put your Sunday service on a TV:

  • Connect your computer to your television with an HDMI cable.

  • Stream the website on your TV if you have a Chromecast for Android devices, or an Apple TV for Apple devices.

At your own pace

Feel free to pause videos and go through the service at your own pace. Every family is different!
